If you also live on Teesside and you've voted Labour all your life because your grandad and his dad blah blah blah did then it's time to wake up and have a good look around you. I don't need to point to anything in particular because you'll know what i'm saying.

That was the question UK independence leader Nigel Farage put to EU President (unelect) Herman Van Rompuy on his EU debut.

Describing him as looking like a 'low-grade bank clerk' the MEP went on to say: "I have no doubt that your intention is to be the quiet assassin of European democracy and of European nation states,"

Whether you agree with Farage or not it's important to note he was elected and given a mandate by the people, Van Rompuy was not. For the sake of democracy and freedom of speech we need more people like Farage in the EU to counter the growing Bureaucracy.

Google Goes Fiber Optic

Its been on the cards for sometime but Google finally kick start their fiber optic network.

"We're planning to build and test ultra high-speed broadband networks in a small number of trial locations across the United States. We'll deliver Internet speeds more than 100 times faster than what most Americans have access to today with 1 gigabit per second, fiber-to-the-home connections. We plan to offer service at a competitive price to at least 50,000 and potentially up to 500,000 people."
