Had my first failures of the season after losing all my Courgette plants.
Despite reading numerous books, listening to advice and scouring the web i still managed to kill them off. Why didn’t they survive? Well only practice and experience will help with the answer to that. Although sowing them too early, in too small a pot, leaving them in the electric propagator for too long and then transfering them into larger pots in too cool a part of the house probably didn’t help.
I sowed Leeks at the same time and was surprised how fast the Courgette seeds germinated. Before i knew what was going on they’d grown really tall and spindly in the electric propagator. The Leeks on the other hand went onto the window sill, took a couple of weeks to germinate and are looking strong and healthy.
So with the weather being cold and snowy i decided to give it another bash. This time i used larger pots so i don’t have to transplant until ready to go outside and into the ground. And this time as soon as they germinate they are coming out of the propagator and onto the window sill.
Anybody had similar disasters with sowing Courgettes and do electric propagators always make seedlings tall and spindly?
Sunday brought us heavy snow so didn’t venture out to the allotment. So glad i resisted planting those spuds last week.
