Installing GarageBand
If your Mac was bought before February 2004, it probably didn't come with GarageBand pre-installed (or the rest of the iLife '04' bundle). You will therefor need to buy a copy of the iLife '04' bundle, as GarageBand is not available as a standalone application.
Garageband Installation is straightforward; simply insert DVD and double-click on the installer package. You can then step through the installation process by clicking the continue button, accepting the license agreement and selecting an install volume.
At the 'Installation Type' stage, the various iLife components can be selected for installation - make sure GarageBand is selected before proceeding.
Get an iLife
There is no denying that the iLife software bundle offers fantastic value for money. £39 buys you no less than five state-of-the-art applications, which not only work well on there own but also integrate perfectly together. Some would argue that the iLife suite alone is a good enough reason to go out and buy a Mac!
