If you own an iPod then one of the easiest ways to create a Podcast is to use an external voice recorder like an iTalk. Although this will limit you somewhat over the quality of the voice coming in, I have found the iTalk more than adequate for voice recordings. The best way to get good quality is to choose your surroundings well, I have a fairly dead room with little ambience and it's pretty well insulated from external noise. Because you need your MP3 to be as small as possible in terms of file size, this helps with download times and web space, you also need to get the best quality at the lowest bit rate. So a bit of thought as to where you are going to Podcast is essential.
The iTalk method is so simple it is untrue.
Step 1: Plug in the iTalk into your iPod and this then brings up the record/cancel menu.
Step 2: Click Record and start your Podcast, once you have finished click Stop and Save.
Step 3: That's it your Podcast is now complete and all you need to do transfer it from your iPod into your prefered jukebox, I use iTunes for this. It is important to remember to have iTunes import your Podcast as an MP3, you can set this under the Preferences > Importing > MP3 Encoder > Good Quality (128 kbps) menu and it works fine.
Step 4: Source your Podcast in iTunes and fill in the information tags and give it a decent title. All you then need to do is save the file on your webserver and follow the steps outlined in add a Podcast within these pages.
So there you have a fairly simple way on how to Podcast although this method is a little restrictive in terms of editing and adding effects to your Podcast, it works well and is good enough to get you on the road to Podcasting.
