With so much digging to do over the whole plot i decided it’s high time to get a Rotavator to help break the soil down when it’s time for planting.

Mantis TillerI’m still going to have to use the good ‘ol spade and fork to turn and loosen the soil initially and also remove the rhizomes from the Perennial weeds, but a Rotavator or Tiller as there also known, will help me no end.

I wanted something manageable and easy to store away when not in use and one that kept springing up amongst other gardeners on the plot and also on many websites was the Mantis Tiller (pictured).

It’s a very light (9kg) 2-stroke petrol Tiller which can dig down 10-inches if required or simply skim across the soil ripping out weeds roots. The soil’s a little too wet at the moment to use it but i’m looking forward to giving it a whirl.

I did a bit more digging, ripped a few more weeds out and went home. I’ll be back.
